Next they showed me a yearling filly name Hazyna. It means "Treasure" in Turkmen, they told me. She had very sweet ground manners and was happy to follow her handler on a loose lead. In the arena she displayed lovely movement, including a gorgeous, floating extended trot. I knew that the older horses they had shown would be the safer choice, I would know exactly what I would be getting, but this filly, there was something about her, something in her playful face that called to my heart. Besides, I knew that these horses bond to one person so the earlier in the horse's life I was working and handling them, the better it would be in the long run. It was a chance, yes, but watching her move in the arena she is already extremely athletic and I know she will grow to be an excellent show horse. I firmly believe I have found real treasure here.
